EU PAL-COPD partners engage in global discussions on patient involvement and palliative care

Members of the EU PAL-COPD consortium have recently taken part in several international conferences and training events, sharing the project’s experiences and insights on patient engagement and co-design in palliative care.

Professor Nancy Preston represented EU PAL-COPD at two key events in Malaysia:

  • The Patient Engagement: Co-designing Palliative Care workshop hosted by Hospis Malaysia, and
  • The Sarawak Palliative Care Conference 2025.

At both events, Professor Preston highlighted the importance of involving patients and families in the development and delivery of palliative care services, drawing on lessons and approaches developed through the EU PAL-COPD project.

In addition, Didar Karadag Akkaya contributed to the PalCaRe NWC Networking Event (September 2025), where she presented on “How to set up an international Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) group to adapt a UK-based intervention to Europe?”
The session explored best practices for building meaningful international PPI collaborations and ensuring that interventions are relevant across diverse cultural and healthcare contexts.

These engagements demonstrate EU PAL-COPD’s growing international presence and commitment to advancing patient-centred, collaborative approaches in palliative care research and implementation.
