To mark World COPD Day this year, the EU PAL-COPD project is sharing a video featuring Ludo, who offers a personal insight into caring for his wife living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
In the video, Ludo reflects on how COPD has shaped their daily life as a family, what they have learned through joining a patient support group, and why early, integrated palliative care can make a meaningful difference for people with COPD and those who care for them. His story highlights the emotional, practical and social dimensions of caregiving – experiences often overlooked in discussions about COPD.
Ludo is part of the European Lung Foundation’s COPD Patient Advisory Group (PAG), whose members provide invaluable lived experience to EU PAL-COPD. Through their active involvement in consultations, material reviews and strategic discussions, the PAG ensures that the project stays grounded in the real needs and priorities of people affected by COPD.
As an EU-funded initiative, EU PAL-COPD is committed to improving access to early, person-centred palliative care and raising awareness of its importance among healthcare professionals, policymakers and the wider public. Sharing stories like Ludo’s is a key part of this mission.
