EU PAL-COPD team attends Belgian Respiratory Society World COPD Day event

Last week, EU PAL-COPD team members Julie StevensMichelle Martine van der Meer and Marie Van de Walle attended the World COPD Day event organised by the Belgian Respiratory Society (BeRS) at Train World in Brussels. The event, titled “COPD in Belgium: scientific update & next steps,” brought together clinicians, researchers, policy actors and patient representatives to discuss the future of COPD care in Belgium.

The programme offered an updated scientific overview of COPD in Belgium, including new national data and insights into unmet care needs. The EU PAL-COPD team members in attendance joined a group discussion inspired by the Belgian National Chronic Respiratory Diseases plan, to share reflections on how to optimise long-term care management for patients with COPD. BeRS also highlighted the ongoing respiratory parcours at Train World, developed by the Belgian Lung Foundation, which remains open to the public until 1 March 2026.

We thank the Belgian Respiratory Society for hosting this meaningful event and for creating a national platform dedicated to strengthening COPD care pathways.
