EU PAL-COPD at the EAPC 2026 World Congress: Lancaster partners present cross-project insights

EU PAL-COPD partners will be actively contributing to the EAPC 2026 World Congress, taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, from 14 to 16 May 2026.

The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) Congress is a leading international event bringing together researchers, clinicians and practitioners to exchange knowledge and advance palliative care across disciplines. The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) is also a valued partner in the EU PAL-COPD consortium.

Sharing lessons from across EU projects

Partners from Lancaster University will present two posters highlighting key challenges and learnings from multiple European research projects, offering valuable perspectives on the implementation of palliative care research in practice.

The contributions include:

  • A poster by Didar Karadag Akkaya, titled “Beyond research ethical committee approval: The complexity of starting clinical trials in the United Kingdom”, addressing practical and regulatory challenges encountered when initiating clinical trials
  • A poster by Serena Salvi, titled “Transferable learnings for culturally adapting palliative care interventions and associated materials pre-trial: A comparison of three European trials”, focusing on how palliative care interventions can be effectively adapted across different cultural and healthcare contexts

These contributions reflect important cross-project insights and highlight the complexity of translating research into real-world settings, particularly in palliative care.

Advancing collaboration and implementation

Participation in EAPC 2026 provides an opportunity to engage with the international palliative care community, share experiences from EU-funded projects and contribute to ongoing discussions on improving the design and delivery of palliative care interventions. By showcasing these learnings, EU PAL-COPD partners continue to support the development of more effective, adaptable and patient-centred approaches to care.

If you are attending EAPC 2026, we encourage you to connect with our partners and learn more about these contributions.
