The project consists of nine closely aligned and fully integrated work packages. The Work Package leads and co-leads have been chosen meticulously based on their international expertise and familiarity with the activities in their respective Work Packages.
Lead: VUB/accelCH
WP1 covers the overall management and coordination of the project.
Lead: ULANC/UGENT
The scope of WP2 is the adaptation of the ICLEAR intervention to the specific context of the European countries, resulting in the ICLEAR-EU intervention.
Lead: LAN/UPECS
The training and implementation guidance for the ICLEAR-EU intervention will be developed and delivered in WP3.
Lead: UCPH/UPC
WP4 will incorporate the developments in WP2 and WP3 as it establishes a trial protocol which will be common to all intervention sites across the six countries.
Lead: VUB/UCPH
The scope of WP5 is to conduct, coordinate, facilitate, and oversee the stepped wedge cluster randomised trial in 18 hospitals within 6 countries.
Lead: KCL/UCP
In WP6, cost-effectiveness analyses will be performed. This will both generate new empirical evidence on the cost-effectiveness of the intervention, and a new conceptual understanding of economic evaluation approaches in palliative and end-of-life care.
Lead: UGENT/VUB
In WP7, subgroup and country comparative analyses will be performed.
Lead: RUN/ULANC
Throughout the trial, we will perform a convergent mixed-method process and implementation evaluation.
Lead: accelCH/ERS
WP9 will guarantee engagement of users and stakeholders and use dissemination, exploitation and communication initiatives to achieve the anticipated out-comes throughout the project’s lifetime.
